Former Cabinet Minister in the Ministry of Labour, Newton Kulundu died early Sunday morning at the Nairobi Hospital, at age 52.
Dr Kulundu was admitted at the Hospital almost a month ago following a long illness. He served Lulambi constituency since 1997 to 2007.
Dr Kulundu was a past chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Health, Housing, Labour and Social Welfare, and was responsible for organising a health conference for Members of Parliament at which then-President Daniel arap Moi declared HIV/Aids a national disaster
He was an ardent supporter of President Mwai Kibaki throughout the period he served as Member of Parliament, especially during the 2005 constitution referendum campaigns and in the campaigns for the 2007 general elections, but since that time in 2008, he went out of the public limelight.
Dr Kulundu leaves behind a widow and six children. Comments (0) |
