TSC lists documents required in teacher replacement verification 2025 The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has begun contacting teachers who applied for the 2,014 replacement teaching positions, for which applications closed on May 19, 2025. TSC organized 2,014 teaching vacancies in an advertisement, with 1,309 in primary schools, 32 in junior schools, and 673 in secondary schools. The job is permanent and eligible for a pension plan (PNP). For primary school openings, the Commission stated that a P1 certificate was the bare minimum qualification, while a degree in education was required for junior and secondary schools. TSC will not be able to employ interns on PnP terms, implement CBA The Teachers Service Commission (TSC), which employs 20,000 intern teachers, will be required to hire them on a temporary basis for a minimum of two years following the commission's rejection of budgetary allocations for their permanent and pensionable employment. On the same day that lawmakers were informed that the commission lacks the funds to raise the salaries of the over 300,000 instructors it employs, the news was disclosed. TSC requires 137,000 more Secondary School Teachers

The Ministry of Education, (MoE) has revealed that more than 137,000 additional teachers are required in secondary schools to bridge severe staffing gaps. Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba disclosed the figures during the Teacher Education Conference in Mombasa, where over 600 stakeholders were in-attendance. According to TSC data, junior secondary schools are short of 72,422 teachers, while senior secondary schools face a deficit of 65,070. This translates to nearly 49 per cent and 33 per cent staffing gaps respectively, with the shortage most acute in science, vocational, and STEM subjects.
