The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the availability of 2,014 job vacancies aimed at filling positions vacated by teachers who have left the profession due to natural attrition. In a public announcement made on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the Commission confirmed that all successful applicants will be employed on a permanent and pensionable basis.
The distribution of these vacancies spans various educational levels, with 1,309 positions allocated to primary schools, 32 to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), and 673 to secondary schools. The recruitment process will adhere to the TSC Recruitment Guidelines for the 2024/2025 Financial Year, as outlined in Circulars Nos. 19/2024 and 20/2024.
Qualifications and Application Procedure
To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of Kenya and registered teachers with the Teachers Service Commission. Those seeking positions in primary education must possess a P1 certificate. Candidates applying for roles in JSS and secondary schools are required to hold a diploma in education, with a minimum Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) grade of C+ and at least a C+ in two teaching subjects.
The TSC has mandated that all applications be submitted exclusively online. Interested and qualified individuals should apply via the TSC website at www.tsc.go.ke under the ‘Careers’ section or through teachersonline.tsc.go.ke. The deadline for application submissions is set for midnight on Monday, May 19, 2025.
Additionally, the Commission has provided comprehensive information regarding available vacancies categorized by county and school on its official website.
TSC Provides Explicit Guidelines for Applicants
The TSC has emphasized that shortlisted candidates are required to present their original academic and professional certificates during the interview process. The Commission has cautioned against the submission of multiple applications, stating: “Filling of two or more Application for Employment Forms will lead to disqualification.”
Manual submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances. Furthermore, the Commission has indicated that priority will be given to applicants who have not previously been employed by TSC.
Reiterating its commitment to equity, the TSC has identified itself as an equal opportunity employer and has encouraged individuals with disabilities (PWDs) to apply.
Importantly, the Commission has reminded all applicants that the recruitment process is entirely free of charge.
Caution Against Fraud: TSC Issues Advisory
Finally, the TSC has urged applicants to exercise caution and avoid becoming victims of fraudsters who may falsely claim to offer recruitment assistance. The Commission has warned that certain individuals may attempt to extort money by asserting they can influence the hiring process.
To report any fraudulent activities or suspicious behavior, the TSC has encouraged the public to contact the nearest TSC office or its headquarters. Reports can also be made by calling:
