TSC urgently requires Sh70bn to recruit 98,461 teachers Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has said that a total of Sh70 billion would be required to recruit 98,461 teachers for Junior Secondary and High School. According to the Teachers’ employer, this will reduce the current shortage in public schools. Outgoing TSC Chief Executive Officer, Nancy Macharia, has at the same time denied allegations that her commission abdicated its recruitment role and left it to politicians during funerals. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has issued a stern warning to principals who are still holding on ad refusing to release the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) examination certificates to students because of school fee arrears. Schools’ portal Nemis replaced by Kemis A multi-agency team tasked with consolidating existing registers for all students in schools, ranging from foundation learning to university level, to a single database was unveiled today. The team, which brings together State agencies led by the Ministry of Education, development partners, technology providers and other stakeholders, will set up the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS) to replace the current NEMIS which has been criticised for inefficiencies.
