The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has begun inviting teachers for the training of those who will assess the Grade 9 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA).

Knec has called upon teachers who applied for training as KJSEA examiners and item developers.

The in-person training will occur from Monday, April 14th to Thursday, April 17th, 2025.

Shortlisted teachers who completed the online training have confirmed they received SMS notifications to attend the in-person training.

Knec has so far identified the following training centers according to the subjects.

Kiswahili – Machakos Girls

English – Maryhill Girls

Business Studies (BST) – Murang’a TTC

Agriculture – Kilimambogo TTC

Mathematics – St. Francis Girls, Mang’u

Geography – Sunshine Secondary School

History – Sunshine Secondary School

Christian Religious Education (CRE) – Machakos TTC

Biology – St. George Secondary School

Chemistry – St. Georges Secondary School

Physics – St. George’s Secondary School

The training that was originally planned for March has been postponed to April after it became clear teachers would be engaged in school activities during March.

Successful candidates were first shortlisted and then invited through SMS for the online training, which primarily served as an introduction and orientation prior to the main course.

After completing the online orientation course, teachers are now prepared for physical training at the specified training centers.

However, many teachers have expressed concerns about being excluded, with some having already made the required payment of sh. 10,500.

Some are struggling to access the online orientation course, claiming that the course materials are not reachable.

Following the shortlisting, Knec required teachers to finalize their registration by paying sh. 10,500 via a paybill number and then validating the payment on the Knec examiners’ portal.

This process has proven to be a challenge for some teachers who assert it resulted in their exclusion. Knec instructed those encountering difficulties to reach out for guidance.

The first cohorts of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) will undertake their final evaluation in junior school, KJSEA, from October to November of this year.

The KJSEA will consist of projects, practicals, and theory exams. In May, the candidates will begin with the Creative Arts and Sports Project, which will continue until July.

Throughout July, they will also engage in a Pre-Technical Studies Project. Candidates will take eight days of theory and practical assessments from 24. 10. 2025 to 05. 11. 2025.

The registration for the 2025 KJSEA was finalized at midnight on March 28, 2025.

Knec has listed a total of twenty-four examinable papers for KJSEA on which teachers will receive training.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is set to provide training for examiners of the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) in March and April 2025.

The training fee amounts to Kenya Shillings Ten Thousand Five Hundred (Kes. 10,500) and will be paid ONLY by the shortlisted applicants, who will receive instructions on payment methods via a text message (SMS) and through the application portal.

The training will first take place online and subsequently at a physical residential location.

Shortlisted trainees will receive instructions on how to access the online training resources.

The locations for the residential training will be announced to the eligible trainees later, and the session will be entirely residential.

Consequently, interested and qualified teachers are encouraged to apply for the subjects outlined below.

38. 1. 2 Those with CP2 accounts should log into the portal with their usernames and passwords
39. 1. 3 Those who have forgotten their CP2 passwords must click on the reset password button, enter their mobile number in the format (2547), and submit to receive new passwords for logging into the system
40. 1. 4 Those without CP2 accounts should click on create account and follow the instructions to obtain login credentials to access the system
41. 1. 5 After successfully logging in, applicants are to finish their personal profile and save.

On the dashboard, click on apply for training, and all the available vacancies will be displayed for the applicants to select and apply.

Only qualified teachers who have submitted all the necessary documents will be shortlisted for the exercise on a first-come, first-served basis.
