TSC Replacement Vacancies 2025: Documentation Requirements for Teacher Recruitment Interviews

TSC Replacement Vacancies 2025: Documentation Requirements for Teacher Recruitment Interviews

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has delineated explicit guidelines regarding the documentation that candidates must present during teacher recruitment interviews.

In alignment with the TSC’s commitment to maintaining a transparent and meritocratic recruitment process, candidates are required to provide original and clear copies of specified documents for verification purposes.

Essential Documents for Interview Attendance

Candidates shortlisted for teacher recruitment interviews are mandated to present several critical documents. These include original and clear photocopies of the National Identification Card, the TSC Certificate of Registration, and academic credentials such as degree or diploma certificates accompanied by official transcripts corresponding to each professional and academic qualification listed in the application.

Additionally, candidates must present their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE). For those who have undertaken multiple sittings of the KCSE and KCPE, certificates from all attempts must be provided. Furthermore, all primary and secondary school leaving certificates, along with any pertinent testimonials, must also be included. Applicants with disabilities should present documentation from the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).

In instances where discrepancies in names appear across the presented documents, candidates are required to submit a sworn affidavit to clarify these differences. Should any academic certificate be lost, a letter of certification from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) must be provided.

The TSC official underscored the importance of submitting complete documentation, stating that any incomplete document will be rejected.

Verification of Academic and Professional Credentials

The TSC will undertake a verification process to ensure that only qualified individuals are recruited, scrutinizing all academic and professional documents. Provisional academic documents will not be accepted. All applicants must present both the original and photocopies of all requisite supporting documents, including identification, academic credentials, school leaving certificates, and any additional relevant documentation.

Intern teachers will undergo a simplified vetting process, requiring only their national ID card for verification.

Documentation for Successful Candidates

Successful candidates will be required to submit additional documentation to the Secretary of the Selection Panel at the recruitment stage. This includes photocopies of both sides of the national ID, two recent passport-sized color photographs, KCPE and KCSE certificates, any A-Level qualifications, all documented academic qualifications (including diplomas and degrees) along with their transcripts, the TSC registration certificate, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) PIN, a front copy of the bank card or plate, a completed pay point form, the GP 69 Medical Examination Form, and a receipt acknowledging the submission of these documents.

Final Submission of Documents to TSC Headquarters

The final stage of document submission by TSC County Directors will be directed to the TSC headquarters. This submission will include signed panel minutes, county merit lists detailing successful candidates, categorized by disability status, as well as employment letters and the original KNEC documentation to confirm authenticity, along with the GP 69 medical form.

It is imperative that all documents are certified, organized appropriately, and accurately spelled to facilitate a smooth onboarding process. A senior TSC administrator has emphasized that the completeness and organization of the required documents are crucial for ensuring timely processing by the TSC payroll.

There has been a noted tendency for candidates to overlook necessary documents; therefore, it is advisable to meticulously review the list and ensure that all required documentation is carried to prevent future disqualification.

Ndindi Nyoro Honors More Than 1,000 Graduates at Kiharu

Ndindi Nyoro Honors More Than 1,000 Graduates at Kiharu

Kiharu Member of Parliament, Ndindi Nyoro, has acknowledged over 1,000 youth from his constituency who successfully finished various short courses at the Kiharu Fanikisha Program, an initiative entirely funded by the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).

The graduation ceremony, held at a local venue in Kiharu, gathered the youth, their families, and local leaders to commemorate the achievements of the graduands.

Speaking at the event, Nyoro highlighted the significance of skill development and empowerment for young individuals in his constituency.

“This program is a demonstration of our dedication to equipping the youth with practical skills that will allow them to secure jobs, establish businesses, and contribute to the development of Kiharu and the nation as a whole,” Nyoro remarked.

The Kiharu Fanikisha Program, which is funded through the NG-CDF, provides youth with opportunities to acquire a range of skills such as carpentry, tailoring, plumbing, electrical installation, and other vocational trades.

Nyoro mentioned that the initiative was created to offer an alternative to formal education by concentrating on practical skills that are highly sought after in the job market.

Among the graduates was Jane Wambui, a 23-year-old who finished a tailoring course. “This program has equipped me with the skills to launch my own tailoring business. I’m extremely grateful to the MP and NG-CDF for this chance,” Wambui expressed.

The ceremony was filled with joy, with graduands receiving certificates in recognition of their hard work.

Nyoro committed to continuing support for similar initiatives to tackle youth unemployment, emphasizing that empowering young people was essential for creating a more prosperous future for Kiharu.

The success of the Kiharu Fanikisha Program has ignited discussions across the region, with other constituencies seeking to implement similar models for youth empowerment.

Senators investigate allegations that new recruits benefited from 25,000 teacher promotions.

Senators investigate allegations that new recruits benefited from 25,000 teacher promotions.

Senators have joined National Assembly Members in advocating for inquiries into purported flawed promotions by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), with lawmakers labeling the State agency as “headquarters of corruption” and demanding a cleanse of its leadership.

The legislators are seeking clarification from the TSC regarding the reasoning behind the distribution model utilized in promoting the 25,252 teachers, especially concerning counties that are densely populated yet receive fewer promotions.

This development arises amidst widespread outrage from various sectors regarding the promotions, with MPs accusing the State agency of employing non-transparent promotion criteria and neglecting to uphold principles of equity.

MPs contended that the promotions disproportionately benefited certain regions while omitting deserving candidates from other areas, straying from previous practices and disregarding population dynamics. Senators now seem to be echoing the sentiments of their National Assembly counterparts, urging investigations into the promotions.

Sounding the alarm, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka stated that the TSC should be under pressure to demonstrate whether the criteria used for selecting teachers for promotion across different counties adhered to the principles of merit, equity, and inclusivity.

Lawmakers are requesting the TSC to clarify if there was a grievance redress and appeal mechanism established for teachers who felt wronged by this promotion process, in addition to the number of complaints the TSC has received and how many have been resolved to date.

“The Education committee must investigate and report to this House why long-serving teachers with higher academic qualifications and graduates were either overlooked while younger teachers with lesser qualifications and less experience were promoted during the process, and if so, the justification for this,” Mr. Onyonka remarked.

The committee, which is chaired by nominated Senator Betty Montet, will also be tasked with demanding that the TSC elucidate the measures it is implementing to enhance transparency and accountability to address the persistent issues of career stagnation among teachers. Nominated Senator Esther Okenyuri characterized the State agency as “the headquarters of corruption. ”

She accused some unscrupulous officials at the TSC of soliciting bribes from teachers who are already in a dire situation in order to secure promotions.

“In the recently concluded exercise, there are teachers who have been in service for over 17 years but were not promoted,” Ms. Okenyuri stated.

“Conversely, there are teachers who have served for only one year and were promoted. How can that be justified? I will quote a trade unionist named Benjamin Burombo, who said, ‘when I am fighting for African rights, the other hand is busy keeping away Africans who are fighting me,'” she added.

The lawmaker called for a complete overhaul of the agency’s leadership, asserting that the teachers’ employer is corrupt to the core.
“I call out TSC and state that some of their officers have indeed overstayed in their positions. My concern is that the culture remains the same, so reshuffling them might not be effective. That culture extends from the national level down to the ground,” remarked the senator.

“I understand that corruption will always push back, but we will not back down on this matter. This is because teachers deserve support and fair compensation to remain motivated in providing their services to Kenyans,” she continued.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei supported Ms. Okenyuri’s views, concurring that the TSC is “the hub of corruption and they must be held accountable. ”

“There was also considerable political favoritism (during the promotions). It is reported that TSC has delegated its recruitment duties to other entities, including politicians, and they must be held accountable. ”
Certain teachers’ unions have expressed concerns regarding the promotions, alleging that some teachers with just six months of experience were promoted, contrary to the policy that mandates a minimum of three years for eligibility.

Principals are also uncomfortable with the process, contending that a quota system implemented by the TSC to promote teachers has disadvantaged regions with a greater number of qualified educators.

Despite the outrage surrounding the promotions, TSC chief executive officer Nancy Macharia has asserted that the process adhered to the law and was decentralised to guarantee regional representation.

Schools’ portal Nemis replaced by Kemis

Schools’ portal Nemis replaced by Kemis

A multi-agency team tasked with consolidating existing registers for all students in schools, ranging from foundation learning to university level, to a single database was unveiled today.

The team, which brings together State agencies led by the Ministry of Education, development partners, technology providers and other stakeholders, will set up the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS) to replace the current NEMIS which has been criticised for inefficiencies.

Basic Education PS Prof Julius Bitok said the piloting of KEMIS will be launched in July this year ahead of full transitioning in September.

He explained that the envisaged KEMIS will create an integrated database that will be relied upon to guide education planning and the allocation of relevant resources.

Parents and other stakeholders will also be able to access KEMIS through a mobile phone based application.

“The rollout of KEMIS marks a critical milestone in ensuring that data-driven decision making becomes the cornerstone of education planning and service delivery in Kenya.”

He said KEMIS will also make it impossible to manipulate capitation amounts by registering ghost schools and inflating school populations.

“By consolidating all learner data, from ECDE to higher education, into one platform, the system will enhance accuracy, transparency, and accessibility. It will ensure the government has the right statistics on every school to inform the distribution of teachers, capitation, books and other resources.”

KEMIS will address longstanding challenges in separate registration databases for education levels: Early Childhood and Development Education (ECDE), basic education, TIVETS and universities. It will also consolidate and store data for students, teachers, and institutions.

It will also address emerging issues such as data security and privacy and provide a platform for real-time access to data, enabling monitoring, evaluation and analytics on education transitions and other variables.

Immigration and Citizen Services PS Dr. Belio Kipsang said KEMIS will also be integrated with the births and deaths register through the Civil Registration Services and the National Registration Bureau to provide a unique personal number for every learner.

“Under the Maisha ecosystem, we will provide a Unique Personal Identifier (UPI) to every newborn, which will also be used by KEMIS. In the event of death, the UPI will be the death certificate number. This will help us with accurate data on inevitable transitions.”

Members of Parliament, led by Education Committee Chairman Julius Melly, stated that KEMIS will be a useful platform for guiding budget estimates.

“Whoever has accurate data is well placed to make appropriate decisions on budget allocation. We shall support the Ministry’s legislative agenda in Parliament to ensure this transformative system is fully backed by law.”

The statement comes in the wake of uproar by MPs following massive slashing of the Education budget by the National Treasury resulting in zero allocations for national exams and KEMIS. Besides the Tinderet MP, Mary Emaase (Teso South), Phyilis Bartoo (Moiben) and Joseph Makilap (Baringo North) also witnessed the unveiling of the 15-member team.

Also present was ICT PS Eng. John Tanui, whose Department will play a key role through the Konza Technopolis Development Authority and teachers’ union representatives led by KNUT Secretary General Collins Oyuu.
