THE KIAMBU NATIONAL POLYTECHNIC (KINAP) was established in 1973 by the Kiambu Community on Harambee basis (Pulling Together and raising funds by Contributions From individual community members).Since its inception,The Kiambu National Polytechnic Has Produced Graduates Who fit Grobally competitve Needs of modern employees and and the emerging challenges.

KINAPis a (TVET) Institution under the Ministry of Education, it is registered to offer Technical and Vocational Education and Training.The Board of Governers (BOG) which is appointed by the Ministry of Education in consultaion with the stakeholders oversees the day-to-day running of the institution.

The core function of The Kiambu National Polytechnic is to Provide education and Training in TVET Programmes ,Promote research and Technological Developement.

The Kiambu National Polytechnic KINAP is ISO 9001:2015 Certfied under and as holistic approach to training self-driven Graduate aimed at achieving Kenya Industrialization and envisaged Vision 2030. The institution has actively participated in TVET trade fairs , Robots contests and Sports both at Regional and National Levels.

This polytechnic is divided into nine main departments offering various marketable courses:

Kiambu National Polytechnic: Admission and Application

  • Intake: Admissions take place in January, May, and September each year.
  • Membership Requirements:
    • Diploma (Level 6): Average of C- and above in KCSE.
    • Certificate (Level 5): Average of D (Plain) and above in KCSE.
    • Artisan (Level 4): Average of D- (Minus) or below.
  • Application Method: Applications can be made through the Admissions Portal by uploading a passport photograph, copies of KCSE results, birth certificate, and ID.

Kiambu National Polytechnic: Services and Facilities

  • Accommodation: There are hostels for students provided based on availability, charging approximately Kshs 6,200 per semester .
  • Library: Open Monday to Friday (8:00 AM – 9:00 PM) and Saturday (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM).

BRIEF HISTORY/BACKGROUND

THE KIAMBU NATIONAL POLYTECHNIC(KINAP) was estab-lished in 1973 by the Kiambu community on Harambee basis (pulling together and raising funds by contributions from individ-ual community members). Since its inception, the Kiambu Nation-al Polytechnic has played a vital role in transforming the youth and empowering them for a fulfilling career path by providing quality technical and vocational training, research and enhanced innovations for global impact.

KINAP is a (TVET) Institution under the Ministry of Educa-tion, it is registered to offer Technical and Vocational Education and Training. The Governing Council which is appointed by Minis-try of Education in consultation with the stakeholders oversees the day-to-day running of the institution. The core function of The Kiambu. National Polytechnic is to provide education and training in TVET programs, promote research and technological develop-ment. The Kiambu National Polytechnic KINAP is ISO 9001:2015certified and has a holistic approach to training self driven graduates aimed at achieving Kenya Industrialization en-visaged in the Vision 2030. NOTE: All Level 6/ Diploma Courses take 7 – 8 modules and require a minimum mean grade of C- (Minus) and above or CBET L5, or L5 Modular in related course or Craft KNEC certificate or equivalent qualification as determined by KNQA.
All Level 5/Certificate courses take 5 modules and require a minimum mean grade of D (Plain) and above or level 4, or Level 4 Modular or KNEC artisan certificate in related course or equivalent qualification as deter-mined by KNQA.
All Level 4/ Artisan courses take 2 modules and require a minimum mean grade of D-(Minus) or Level 3, or level 3 modular or equivalent qualification as determined by KNQA.
All Level 3 courses take 1 module and require a minimum grade of KCPE and above or equivalent qualifications as determined by KNQA
Each module takes 3 months and is accompanied by summative exam. At the end of required modules one proceeds to Industry Training.

KINAP ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

a) Original of your ID, Result slip/certificates and Birth Certificate for verification.
Please note that presentation of FORGED documents is a criminal offence and the
institute shall not be held responsible for the consequences therein. You are further
required to ensure that you are fit and qualified for this course.

b) One (1) Copy of 40mm by 50mm Digital passport photograph

c) Admission letter (Kindly make a copy to be retained on admission).

BOARDING (OPTIONAL) PER TERM – Kshs. 6,200.00

• Boarding is subject to availability of rooms and full payment of tuition fees and other
levies. Students are strictly not allowed to cook or use heating appliances in the
hostels.

CATERING

• A variety of meals shall be served in KINAP pay- as-you-eat (PAYE) cafeteria.
Students will be able to make a choice from the available meals. All students, both
borders and commuters, are encouraged to take their meals in our Cafeteria INC.
• A copy of KINAP menu is available at the Institutes notice boards. The parents
/Guardians should provide the student with at least Kshs. 200.00 per day. This is an
estimate for breakfast, lunch and supper.
