Kiharu day secondary school principals are currently enjoying a vacation overseas: Discover the reason why.

Twelve school leaders are spending their holiday in Dubai and Malaysia, organized by MP Ndindi Nyoro.

The Kiharu MP initiated a program last year, wherein principals from the top-performing and most-improved day secondary schools across each of the six wards receive a holiday as a reward.

The goal of the incentive was to promote healthy competition among the schools.

One principal, having led the ranking for two years in a row, was given a different choice for his trip.

“The principal of Mukangu secondary school traveled to Dubai last year after his school topped in his ward, and since he led once more this year, he opted for a different location instead of returning to Dubai,” Nyoro stated.

“We have always said that we won’t penalize success. Even if a principal excels every year, they will continue to benefit from this program each time. ”

The principals will enjoy a five-day stay in the chosen holiday destination, after which they will be transported back home, with all expenses paid.

The holidays are designed to express gratitude to the teachers for their contributions to the schools’ enhanced performance, according to Nyoro, while also motivating their colleagues to strive for better results.

Teachers whose subjects have shown the most improvement and best performance are taken on holidays to Mombasa.

“They board the Standard Gauge Railway to Mombasa, spend five days there, and afterward we fly them back to Nairobi before taking them home. ”

The MP, who addressed the audience at Ihura stadium on Thursday, emphasized that the program is part of the Kiharu Fanikisha initiative, which also supports youth through short courses at local vocational training facilities.

“However, as the motivation program cannot be funded by NGCDF, we seek additional funding from alternative sources to support it. ”

The MP spoke during the graduation event for 1,200 youth who completed four-month free courses in cosmetology, driving, and hospitality.

The MP mentioned that the training aims to enhance the skills of local youths and improve their employability, noting that young people have shown great interest in technical skills that are increasingly in demand in the job market.
