Opting to pursue a degree in Education, whether in Arts or Sciences, is an admirable choice. Teaching is not just a job; it’s a vocation to influence lives and cultivate future generations. However, before embarking on this path, it is essential to grasp the minimum subject requirements necessary to qualify for either discipline.

For a Bachelor of Education (Arts), students typically require a minimum grade of C+ (plus) in KCSE. More specifically, you must achieve at least a C+ in the two teaching subjects you intend to specialize in. For instance, if your aim is to teach History and Kiswahili, you need to have attained a C+ or higher in both subjects. Proficiency in English is also vital, as strong communication skills form the basis of Arts education.

For a Bachelor of Education (Science), the standards are a bit more demanding since science subjects are more technical in nature. Once again, you must achieve at least a C+ overall, but you also need a C+ in Mathematics, English, and in the specific science subjects you plan to instruct, such as Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.

These criteria guarantee that prospective teachers are academically equipped to manage the material they will subsequently convey. After all, teaching begins with learning, and being well-prepared is the initial step toward becoming an outstanding educator.
