Muraga Technical Training Institute (TVC) is located in Tharaka Nithi County, Kenya, specifically 3 km from Marima town along the Marima-Iriga road, near Weru Tea Factory. It was officially opened on September 4, 2017.
The institute was established by the Government of Kenya under the Ministry of Education, State Department of Vocational & Technical Training. Construction of the institute began in 2014, with joint funding from the Ministry of Education and the CDF of Maara Constituency. It was mentored by Nkabune Technical Training Institute in Meru County.
The institution is registered with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Authority and is listed on the KUCCPS website. It is a government TVET institution under the Ministry of Education, State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training.

Total annual fees are Ksh 67,189, with a government scholarship covering 60% (Ksh 40,313.40), and HELB covering 28% (Ksh 18,812.92), leaving a balance of Ksh 8,062.68.
Needy (Band 3):
Total annual fees are Ksh 67,189, with a government scholarship covering 50% (Ksh 33,594.50), and HELB covering 32% (Ksh 21,500.48), leaving a balance of Ksh 12,094.02.
Less Needy (Band 4):
Total annual fees are Ksh 67,189, with a government scholarship covering 40% (Ksh 26,875.60), and HELB covering 38% (Ksh 25,531.82), leaving a balance of Ksh 14,781.58.
Able to Pay (Band 5):
Total annual fees are Ksh 67,189, with a government scholarship covering 30% (Ksh 20,156.70), and HELB covering 43% (Ksh 28,891.27), leaving a balance of Ksh 18,141.03.
Additional fees may include hostel fees (Ksh 4,000 per term), library fees (Ksh 900), and student activity fees (Ksh 1,000 annually).

This includes a government capitation of Ksh 30,000 per trainee, leaving a balance of Ksh 26,420 to be paid by the student, which can be paid in installments. GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP AND LOAN FOR TVC STUDENTS.
Following your placement, you are eligible for a Government scholarship, Loan and Bursary to assist with your educational expenses. If you need Government financial support, you MUST make an application for consideration through the official website www.hef.co.ke. In the case Government scholarship, Loan and bursary do not cover the entire cost of your program, the deficit will be met by your parent/guardian.
