What Parents and Students Can Anticipate as Term 2 of 2025 Kicks Off

As students return to school following the April holiday break, this term is set to be quite busy. Schools have enjoyed a three-week holiday, which will conclude on Monday, April 28th. While this break may have felt brief for students, many parents might argue it was the longest three weeks they’ve experienced.

Classes will resume on April 28th, leading into a fourteen-week learning period that is typically the longest and most demanding of the academic year. With teachers striving to cover the syllabus within the designated timeframe, this term promises to be one of the most engaging for students.

Students will have a five-day break starting June 25th. Here’s an overview of the school calendar:

Under the new education system, there will be a total of four assessments scheduled.

The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) for Grade 6 students is set to take place from October 27th to October 30th.

The Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) for Grades 7 and 8 will occur over five days, from October 27th to October 31st.

The Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) for Grade 6 students in the 8-4-4 system will run from October 27th to November 6th.

The Kenya Pre-Vocational Level Education Assessment (KPLEA) for pre-vocational learners will also take place from October 27th to November 6th.

The latter part of the school calendar will be quite intensive, and both students and teachers are gearing up for it. Parents should be prepared for a significant amount of assessment materials, which could put a strain on their finances.
